2010 Botalcura El Delirio Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva
botalcura_cab_delirio.png Botalcura Winery was founded in 2000 when a successful Chilean entrepreneur and a French winemaker met in the tiny but enchanting village of Botalcura in the Maule Valley. They both saw the potential of the land and the people.

Winemaker Philippe Debrus, having grown up in the vineyards of France became a winemaker there and in Sonoma concluded that Chile was his true calling. A pioneer in Chile, he manages the vines as well as the winemaking.

The word Botalcura means “large stone” in Mapundungun, the language of Chile’s native Mapuche people. Something hard and solid as rock speaks of the power of the gods and of what is enduring.

The 2010 Cabernet shows aromas of cassis and blueberry, with spicy hints of cumin, black pepper, and cardamom. Still quite young, it has the elements found in abundance in some of the world´s greatest wines: deep color, tight but complex aromas, and a powerful structure. This wine displays the strengths of the Cabernet Sauvignon grape, through it’s rich ripe fruit, especially in its tannin structure. It is balanced and elegant from entry to finish.
